You can still use Guardrail to document your own side of co-parenting — your messages sent, your visitation check-ins, and your uploads to the evidence locker. If the other parent refuses to engage through a documented platform, that refusal itself becomes relevant to your case. Many of our users' attorneys recommend requiring Guardrail use as part of a parenting agreement modification — and some judges are beginning to order it directly.

The STSVC team operates under the same confidentiality standards required of supervised visitation professionals.
You don't need their consent to create your own account and begin documenting your co-parenting communications on your side. For the shared messaging features — where both parents communicate through the app — the other parent will need to create their own account. Many users introduce Guardrail to co-parents through their attorneys or as part of a court agreement. We recommend consulting your attorney about the best approach for your specific situation.

Before a hearing or mediation, ask your attorney to review Guardrail's documentation standards and consider requesting it as part of your parenting agreement modification. Many family law attorneys in South Texas are already familiar with STSVC's supervision standards — the foundation of Guardrail's platform.
In mediation or negotiations, propose that all co-parenting communication occur exclusively through Guardrail. This is increasingly accepted because it holds each parent accountable equally and removes the "he said, she said" dynamic. The other party's attorney is often receptive once they understand the mutual nature of the documentation.
Your attorney can include: "Both parties shall communicate regarding the minor child(ren) exclusively through the Guardrail co-parenting platform operated by South Texas Supervised Visitation Center, and shall maintain active accounts for the duration of this order." We can provide supporting documentation about the platform's evidentiary standards to submit to the court if requested.
When Guardrail use is court-ordered, you're upgraded to our Court-Ordered plan. An STSVC case specialist is assigned to your case, oversees account setup for both parents, and is available to produce records, certify reports, or appear as a witness if needed. This is the same standard of care STSVC applies to its in-person supervised visitation cases.
On the Court-Ordered plan, STSVC generates monthly compliance summaries covering visitation adherence, communication patterns, and any flagged incidents. These can be submitted directly to the court, a guardian ad litem, or a CPS caseworker. If a violation occurs, the report is automatically flagged and your attorney is notified within 24 hours.
