What Texas Family Courts Actually Want to See
Most parents don't know what makes documentation admissible — or what gets thrown out. This guide covers the evidentiary standards Texas judges apply and how Guardrail meets them.
Guardrail is the secure, court-admissible co-parenting platform built for high-conflict custody situations. Every message documented. Every exchange GPS-verified. Every transaction timestamped. Built by the supervision experts CPS and DFPS already trust.

What is Guardrail?
A court-ready co-parenting platform that keeps all communication child-focused, on record, and free from conflict.

Read our step-by-step guide to get set up quickly and make the most of every feature.
When parents are hostile, uncooperative, or simply unreliable, the stakes are too high for a simple shared calendar. You need documentation. You need accountability. You need a platform built from the ground up for the courtroom.
South Texas Supervised Visitation Center has worked alongside CPS, DFPS, and family court judges since 2011. Guardrail is the digital extension of that expertise — designed to protect children and give parents the evidence they need.
Screenshots are easily doctored. Courts increasingly reject them. Guardrail's timestamped, cryptographically sealed records hold up in any hearing.
He said she was late. She says he didn't show up. GPS-verified exchanges and timestamped logs put the facts on the record — permanently.
Forcing kids to relay information between parents puts them in an impossible position. Guardrail's child-safe accounts give kids their own space — without becoming pawns.
Shared expenses, support payments, and reimbursements become contested at every turn. Guardrail tracks every dollar with a clear, auditable trail.
Guardrail runs quietly in the background of your daily co-parenting life — logging, verifying, and organizing everything so you don't have to. When you need it, everything is ready.
Each parent gets their own secure account. You don't share a login — you share a co-parenting space where all communication is logged and monitored. Optionally create child-safe accounts for the kids.
All messages go through Guardrail's secured messaging system. The AI Tone Coach flags hostile language before you send it. Every message is automatically timestamped and archived with cryptographic proof of authenticity.
At every pickup and drop-off, both parents check in through the app. Location and time are recorded automatically. If a parent doesn't show, the absence is logged as well — creating an undeniable, court-ready record.
School notices, medical records, receipts, photos — upload them to your secure evidence locker. They're indexed, searchable, and can be shared with your attorney in a single click. No more hunting through email threads before a hearing.
When you need documentation for a hearing, generate a sealed PDF report covering the entire communication history, visitation log, and expense record. Judges, mediators, and CPS caseworkers can read it immediately — no translating screenshots needed.
Invite your lawyer, guardian ad litem, or court-appointed advocate with read-only access. They can review everything they need for your case, directly inside Guardrail — securely and without any back-and-forth file transfers.
Guardrail turns the daily chaos of high-conflict co-parenting into a clean, signed, timestamped record — the kind judges, mediators, and CPS caseworkers actually want to see.
Every message is timestamped, cryptographically archived, and exportable as a sealed PDF. No screenshots. No doctored records. Just facts that hold up in court.
Pickups and drop-offs are logged with GPS location and time, so compliance with the parenting plan isn't a memory — it's a verified, court-ready map with timestamps.
Before you send a message you'll regret, Guardrail flags hostile language and suggests a calmer, clearer rewrite. Protect your case — and your children — from unnecessary escalation.
Photos, receipts, school notices, medical records — organized, searchable, and ready to hand your lawyer in one click. Everything in one place, never scattered across email threads.
Children get their own monitored, age-appropriate space to message both parents — without becoming the go-between. No adult conversations. No manipulation. Just kids being kids.
Grant read-only access to your lawyer, guardian ad litem, or court-appointed advocate. They see exactly what they need — organized, searchable, and ready for your next hearing.
Log shared expenses, child support payments, and reimbursement requests — all with receipts attached. Disputes about money become resolved with facts instead of accusations.
Load your court-ordered parenting plan into the shared calendar. Both parents see the same schedule — no ambiguity, no "I forgot," and full documentation when the schedule isn't followed.
Generate a complete, court-ready summary of all communications, visitation logs, and documents in minutes. Formatted the way judges and mediators want to read it — not like a phone dump.
"My attorney told me it was the most complete co-parenting record she'd seen in 15 years of family law. The judge took one look at the Guardrail report and the other parent's credibility collapsed. It changed everything."
"I used to dread every pickup because there was always a dispute. Now everything is logged. There's nothing to argue about. The GPS record speaks for itself, and co-parenting actually got easier."
"The AI Tone Coach alone is worth the subscription. I'd send a message I thought was reasonable and it would flag it. It helped me communicate in a way that didn't hurt me in court — and that protected my kids."
Every plan includes a 7-day free trial. No credit card required. Cancel anytime.
Yes. Guardrail's records are designed to meet the evidentiary standards used in Texas family courts. Every message is cryptographically signed with a tamper-evident timestamp, and the sealed PDF court reports are formatted to match the documentation standards that judges, mediators, and CPS caseworkers expect. Unlike screenshots — which can be edited and are increasingly challenged by opposing counsel — Guardrail's records are authenticated and auditable.
You can still use Guardrail to document your own side of co-parenting — your messages sent, your visitation check-ins, and your uploads to the evidence locker. If the other parent refuses to engage through a documented platform, that refusal itself becomes relevant to your case. Many of our users' attorneys recommend requiring Guardrail use as part of a parenting agreement modification — and some judges are beginning to order it directly.
Before you send a message, Guardrail's AI analyzes it for tone, hostility, and language that could be used against you in court. If it detects escalating language, it flags the message and offers a rewritten version that communicates the same intent in a calmer, more legally neutral way. You always have the final say — you can send your original message or the suggested rewrite. The goal isn't to silence you; it's to protect you from your worst moments.
No. Your evidence locker is private to you. The other parent only sees what you choose to share with them through the messaging system. Attorney and court access is read-only and must be explicitly granted by you. Guardrail is HIPAA-aligned in its privacy practices, and all data is encrypted at rest and in transit. The STSVC team operates under the same confidentiality standards required of supervised visitation professionals.
You don't need their consent to create your own account and begin documenting your co-parenting communications on your side. For the shared messaging features — where both parents communicate through the app — the other parent will need to create their own account. Many users introduce Guardrail to co-parents through their attorneys or as part of a court agreement. We recommend consulting your attorney about the best approach for your specific situation.
Guardrail is built and operated by STSVC — a licensed supervised visitation center that has worked with Texas family courts, CPS, and DFPS since 2011. Our entire team is background-checked and trained to DFPS standards. Guardrail is the digital extension of our in-person supervision expertise: the same commitment to child safety, documentation rigor, and court-aligned standards — available to any co-parent anywhere, not just those with in-person supervision orders.
After your 7-day free trial, you'll be prompted to select a plan and add a payment method. Your data is never deleted — even if you pause or cancel, your records remain accessible. If you cancel within the trial period, you won't be charged anything. We don't require a credit card to start the trial because we want you to make the decision based on whether Guardrail actually works for your situation — not because you forgot to cancel.

Every Guardrail feature was designed with one question: will this hold up in a hearing? Here's how the three most critical features actually work.
Co-parenting in conflict means communicating with someone who may be trying to provoke you. One hostile message can hurt your custody standing, trigger a contempt filing, or give opposing counsel exactly what they need.
The AI Tone Coach analyzes every message before you hit send — flagging hostile language and offering a calm, legally neutral rewrite that says the same thing without the liability.
Visitation disputes are among the most common — and most difficult to resolve — in high-conflict custody cases. Without objective records, it's your word against theirs.
Guardrail's GPS check-in system creates an irrefutable log of every pickup and drop-off. Both parents open the app at the exchange location — time and GPS coordinates are recorded automatically. If one parent doesn't check in, that absence is logged too.
The night before a hearing is the worst time to realize you can't find the receipt that proves your point — or the school notice the other parent claims they never received.
Guardrail's Evidence Locker gives you a secure, searchable repository for every document that matters — organized by category, tagged by date, and shareable with your attorney in one click.
More Texas judges are beginning to include co-parenting platform requirements in custody orders. Here's what that process looks like — and how to request it.
Before a hearing or mediation, ask your attorney to review Guardrail's documentation standards and consider requesting it as part of your parenting agreement modification. Many family law attorneys in South Texas are already familiar with STSVC's supervision standards — the foundation of Guardrail's platform.
In mediation or negotiations, propose that all co-parenting communication occur exclusively through Guardrail. This is increasingly accepted because it holds each parent accountable equally and removes the "he said, she said" dynamic. The other party's attorney is often receptive once they understand the mutual nature of the documentation.
Your attorney can include: "Both parties shall communicate regarding the minor child(ren) exclusively through the Guardrail co-parenting platform operated by South Texas Supervised Visitation Center, and shall maintain active accounts for the duration of this order." We can provide supporting documentation about the platform's evidentiary standards to submit to the court if requested.
When Guardrail use is court-ordered, you're upgraded to our Court-Ordered plan. An STSVC case specialist is assigned to your case, oversees account setup for both parents, and is available to produce records, certify reports, or appear as a witness if needed. This is the same standard of care STSVC applies to its in-person supervised visitation cases.
On the Court-Ordered plan, STSVC generates monthly compliance summaries covering visitation adherence, communication patterns, and any flagged incidents. These can be submitted directly to the court, a guardian ad litem, or a CPS caseworker. If a violation occurs, the report is automatically flagged and your attorney is notified within 24 hours.
High-conflict co-parenting is one of the most stressful experiences a parent can face. These guides are drawn from STSVC's 13 years working alongside Texas families, courts, and caseworkers.
